Natural Stone Factory For Quality Stone Veneer Processing

Greetings from "STONEVENEERS", a natural stone factory where we craft thin stone sheets from rough blocks that we acquire from different sources into the highest caliber sandstone, granite, quartzite, limestone, slate, and marble veneers, as well as stone veneer mosaics and other stone veneer products. We are aware of how crucial precise stone patterns and sizes are for business-to-business clients. We fairly adhere to all international standards and guidelines when handling rough blocks at the factory, processing stone sheets, cleaning these sheets, and cutting edges to create customized sizes.

How we make things possible?

Stone veneers (mainly for furniture products and fashion accessories) of the Ultraflex type can be thinner (less than 0.5 mm) in terms of the thickness of the fixation itself, but the stone layer itself can be around 2 mm. However, this material cannot be compared with paper in any case. Fixation layer and therefore where. the veneer is very strong thanks to the fiberglass reinforcement grid covered with polyester resin, light even though at the same time extremely flexible (the same principle of the fixation/lamination composition as for the walls of laminate boats and other laminate products). For this reason, the name flexible cladding or flexible stone cladding is often used in this case.

How is This Tiling Made?

This kind of stone cladding is a real natural stone material, which is obtained by fixing a thin surface stone layer from blocks of various types of metamorphic rocks. It is not a sprinkling of crushed stone stuck on cardboard, nor a stone that has somehow been peeled off and then stuck on a plastic base!

Dozens of types of metamorphosed rocks belonging to slates and quartzes (usually they are phyllites, clasts, gneiss and paragneites with different contents of quartz, mica, feldspar, etc.), are mined in slab blocks and then the processing of this material is continued in the production hall . The majority of the production process is manual, physically and time-consuming work using physical methods using the properties of materials such as changes in absorbency and expansion upon heating and cooling, internal stress in materials, etc.

The fixing material for stone foils and stone veneers are various types of polyester resins with fiberglass micro-armature. Not only the quality of the rock but also the resin is important for the final quality of the product. For various applications, stone veneers and foils additionally glued with different materials are appearing on the market, depending on the subsequent use.

The production process is basically simple and thus ingenious.

Liquid polyester resin and glass fibers or fiberglass nanogrid are manually applied in several thin layers under specific physical conditions to the monolithic surface of a heated rock block, and after cooling, hardening and fixing the resin in the pores of the rock, by subsequent tearing off from the surface of the block, a 1-5mm thin layer is formed of a true stone monolith fixed with this flexible resin/fiberglass armature. In the same repetitive way, more and more thin slabs of stone can be torn off until the raw material is exhausted.

However, not every type of slate and quartzite is suitable for the production of stone veneers and foils. For a long time, there have been attempts to change the properties of some rocks so that this technology can be applied to other types of rocks, not just metamorphic ones. In our assortment, we offer dozens of types of natural stone foils in many different formats and for different uses.
